What your browser remembers

tooldu.com uses cookies and browser storage to keep accounts signed in, apply access windows, remember your choices and help tools work. File processing stays local, but account and access checks contact the server. Essential storage is used for those functions. Optional analytics and advertising are off until you choose them, subject to the Tag Manager explanation below.

Trials and signed-in sessions

You get 30 minutes to try the tools that need access, without creating an account. Once that window ends, wait at least one hour before starting another. Opening an eligible trial tool starts the next window. Time keeps running while you are away. The nine free tools have no session timer. Clearing cookies or browser data does not restart the timer on the same public IP. People on the same Wi-Fi or shared network may therefore share a window and its waiting period. We cannot reliably recognise an unregistered visitor who changes both cookies and public IP. Signed-in accounts use their own access rules. The trial cookie is an opaque identifier, not a document or a payment record. Member sessions and administrator sessions use separate cookies. On HTTPS these session cookies are Secure and HttpOnly; member/trial cookies use SameSite=Lax and administrator cookies use SameSite=Strict. A short-lived HttpOnly credentials cookie delivers a new Google-created account’s site password and recovery code to its own session. It expires after ten minutes and is cleared after collection. Signing out revokes the relevant session. Password reset revokes member sessions and does not restart an account’s trial clock.

Local work, preferences and cached files

Previews and work in progress use browser memory. Continuing into another tool may make a local IndexedDB copy that expires after ten minutes and is deleted when consumed. Expiry is checked on use, and old handoffs are cleaned during later handoffs. Recent tools, favourites, cookie choices and cached public assets have separate storage. The recent list shows the last 30 days; its stored record remains until updated or cleared. Closing a tab does not necessarily clear all browser storage.

Optional analytics

With analytics consent, first-party reports use random visitor and session identifiers. Google Analytics may also use cookies such as _ga when configured and allowed. Exact Google cookie names and lifetimes depend on its settings. The site’s optional measurement respects detected Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. Withdrawing analytics consent removes the local first-party visitor and session identifiers and stops future collection by that feature.

Tag Manager and advertising

A configured standard Google Tag Manager container may load before you choose, with analytics and advertising storage denied. Loading the container can still contact Google. Its tags must respect consent, and its noscript iframe may contact Google when JavaScript is disabled. Built-in AdSense ads require advertising consent and an allowed country; they are suppressed in the EEA, UK, Switzerland and unknown regions without a certified CMP. The choice panel below is not a Google-certified CMP. Advertising cookies and settings, where used, are also governed by Google and other participating vendors.

Changing your choices

Use the controls below to change optional choices for this browser. Essential storage cannot be switched off here because it supports the service. Already loaded tags cannot always be unloaded, and third-party cookies may remain until you remove them in browser settings. Reload after changing choices if you want a fresh page session. Another browser or device has its own preferences. Blocking or clearing essential storage can sign you out or remove locally saved work; it does not cancel a server-held cooldown or reset a member trial.

A LITTLE CLARITY

Cookie Policy: questions & answers

Useful answers. Clear next steps.

At a glance

Essential cookies and local storage support accounts, trial checks and tools. Optional analytics and advertising start off until allowed. Standard Google Tag Manager can contact Google with storage denied before a choice. Use the controls on this page to change optional preferences.

Can I turn off optional analytics and advertising?

Yes. Use the controls on this page. Choices apply to this browser. Essential storage remains available, and a configured standard Tag Manager container has the separately described pre-consent behaviour.

Will clearing browser data reset my free window?

Other tools offer a 30-minute anonymous window, followed by at least one hour before another window. Clearing browser data does not restart the same public IP’s timer; visitors on a shared network can share that limit. Registered accounts have a separate 30-minute window every three hours, measured from the previous start. Idle time counts, and unused minutes do not carry over.

How long is a local handoff file kept?

It expires after ten minutes and is deleted when consumed. Expired handoffs are checked on use and cleaned during later handoffs. Closing a tab alone does not clear every kind of browser storage.

Will saving new choices delete Google cookies?

Not necessarily. It stops future optional collection by the relevant features. Already loaded tags and provider cookies may require a reload or removal through browser settings.
