Easy, precise audio trimming

Drag the two waveform handles or enter exact start and end times. Keep your selection, or remove it and join the remaining audio.

Fade in. Finish smoothly.

Set separate fade-in and fade-out lengths. Preview the processed result before downloading a ringtone, voice note or music clip.

A sound that fits

Change volume, speed and pitch independently. Adjust bass, mid and treble with a simple three-band equalizer.

Useful formats, real downloads

Open common MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG and FLAC files. Export MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG or AAC-based M4R. Unsupported files report a clear error.

Create an iPhone ringtone

Use the 40-second ringtone preset, fine-tune the range and save an M4R file. Installing it on an iPhone is a separate device step.

Extract audio from a video

Choose a supported MP4, WebM or MOV file with sound. Edit its first audio track and download just the audio, without uploading the video.

A little help, when you need it.

Which files can I open?

Common MP3, WAV, AAC/M4A, OGG, FLAC and Opus audio and MP4/WebM/MOV videos with a supported audio track. Compatibility depends on the file codec; we do not claim every format works. Only the first audio track is used.

How do I cut sound from a video?

Choose a video with sound from the file menu. The waveform displays the first audio track. Trim and save an audio-only result; no video is included in the download.

How do I make an iPhone ringtone?

Use the ringtone preset to keep a clip up to 40 seconds and select M4R. Download and transfer it using your iPhone’s supported ringtone workflow or a computer. This page does not install ringtones automatically.

Can I use cloud storage?

Download the file from your cloud drive to your device first, then choose it here. tooldu.com does not request cloud-drive account access.

Why is a large file not opening?

Input is limited to 350 MB and tracks to 10 minutes, with a 120 MB output budget. Browser memory and codec support also matter. Try a shorter file or a device with more available memory.

A LITTLE CLARITY

Audio Cutter: questions & answers

Useful answers. Clear next steps.

At a glance

To cut audio, choose a supported audio file or a video with sound, select start and end positions on the waveform, then keep or remove that interval. Add fades, volume, speed, pitch or equalizer changes and use Preview edits. Choose MP3, WAV, M4R, FLAC or OGG, select Cut & Save and download. Files stay on your device. Input is limited to 350 MB and ten-minute tracks; output is limited to 120 MB and ten minutes.

How can I trim an audio file precisely?

Drag the waveform handles with mouse or touch, use Left/Right arrow keys on a focused handle (Shift for one-second steps), or enter start and end times in seconds. Keep at least 0.02 seconds. Choose Keep selection or Remove selection.

Are my audio and video files uploaded?

No. Audio is decoded and edited by a local browser worker. The engine downloads from tooldu.com only after you choose a file. Media files are not sent to the server. Close the workspace to release local media memory.

Which input and output formats are supported?

Common MP3, WAV, M4A/AAC, OGG, FLAC and Opus audio, plus MP4/WebM/MOV files with supported audio tracks. Only the first audio track is used. Exports are MP3, WAV, M4R, FLAC and OGG at 44.1 kHz stereo. Unsupported codecs, encrypted or damaged media may not open.

How do I add fades and hear all my changes?

Set fade-in and fade-out durations on the Trim panel. Volume, speed, pitch and three-band equalizer controls are available above the waveform. Play auditions the original selection using a lightweight mono proxy; Preview edits processes the original file with all effects.

Can I make an iPhone ringtone?

Use the iPhone ringtone preset to select up to 40 seconds and choose AAC-based M4R output. Longer M4R results are blocked. Download the file, then install it with your device’s supported ringtone workflow; installation is not automatic.

Will cutting preserve the original audio quality?

Exports are re-encoded from the original source, not the lightweight playback proxy. MP3 uses 192 kbps; M4R uses AAC at 192 kbps; OGG uses quality 5. WAV/FLAC do not add lossy codec compression, but trimming, effects and 44.1 kHz stereo conversion change the signal. Keep your original.

What are the limits and price?

This tool is completely free without registration, payment or a session time limit. Use it as often as you like. Published file, codec and device-memory limits still apply. Other tools have separate access rules.
